Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony 2017

April 30, 2017 By TeamBASSicBlack

Earlier this year, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced it’s list of 2017 Inductees. One of which included the legendary Tupac Shakur!

Tupac’s cohort Snoop Dogg accepted the honor on behalf of the late artist and spoke very fondly of his former label mate.

So, while we may be here to celebrate one of music’s most prolific and outspoken artists as he’s rightfully enshrined as one of the greatest musicians to ever do it, I’m here to make sure that Pac is remembered the way he would have wanted to be: a strong black man who stood up. Not somebody who acted like a rapper, but as a human…That’s what made Tupac the greatest rapper of all time

Under the direction of Musical Director Adam Blackstone, the BASSic Black Entertainment band provided the music for the tribute to Tupac which included a performance by Alicia Keys!

Justin Timberlake Opens The 2017 Oscars

February 27, 2017 By TeamBASSicBlack

The 2017 Oscars honored the TOP movies, actors, and actresses in Hollywood! Justin Timberlake was slated to open the show with his hit song from the movie Trolls, “Can’t Stop the Feeling”. Which was also nominated for Best Original Song.

Starting outside the Dolby Theater, a tux-rocking Timberlake danced and sang his way down the aisle to the stage, trailed by dancers in formalwear. As Timberlake danced his heart out onstage, the stars in the audience seemed to be enjoying a respite from the pre-awards tension: Jeff Bridges, Javier Bardem, Charlize Theron, Naomie Harris, Janelle Monáe, Brie Larson, Taraji P. Henson, and Octavia Spencer were among the actors caught on camera dancing. Timberlake also took a charming moment to cut a rug with wife Jessica Biel.

As “Can’t Stop the Feeling” came to an end, Timberlake shifted gears into one of his own favorite songs: “Lovely Day” by Bill Withers. (Timberlake has said that the 1977 R&B hit was a big influence on his Oscar-nominated song.)

The performance that had the audience dancing on their feet was musically directed by Adam Blackstone, CEO of BASSic Black Entertainment and fellow “Tennessee Kid”.
