As a graduate of Philadelphia’s University of The Arts, BBE CEO Adam Blackstone has strong ties to the area and it remains near and dear to his heart. So, it should be no surprise that he, along with BBE band, was on hand for the event!

With COVID-19 placing Stay-At-Home orders in major cities across the country, schools and universities had to get creative with their commencement ceremonies this year.

As an alum of University of The Arts in Philadelphia, BASSic Black Entertainment CEO, Adam Blackstone, was honored when asked to give the commencement address for their first ever virtual ceremony.

In response to the news of a boom of African-Americans being disproportionately harmed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, BET has wasted no time and have stepped up to create initiatives to support communities of color affected by coronavirus.

BET teamed with the NAACP, United Way Worldwide, leaders in the African American creative, civil rights and business communities to provide financial, educational and community support directly to Black communities hit hardest by this crisis.

One of the initiatives includes the the “Saving Our Selves: A BET COVID-19 Relief Effort” broadcast special which aired WED, April 22 at 8 PM ET. Many artists and entertainers joined forces to spread knowledge and joy during this rough time in our world.
